Because Notova stores everything locally and transmits nothing to the cloud, you are solely responsible for maintaining your own secure backups of your bookkeeping data. We strongly recommend keeping regular, encrypted backups in a safe location.
Red7en, LLC is not responsible for any loss of data, however it may occur — including hardware failure, accidental deletion, or device loss.
Because your data is encrypted with a password that only you hold, Red7en, LLC is unable to recover any lost data or forgotten passwords. There is no backdoor and no recovery service. If your password is lost, your data cannot be recovered by anyone, including us.

✅ Windows users: Notova.exe is digitally signed by Red7en LLC with a code-signing certificate issued through Microsoft's Azure signing service. Microsoft has verified Red7en LLC's identity, and Windows checks the signature every time the app runs — you can confirm it yourself via right-click → Properties → Digital Signatures. While the app is new, Microsoft Defender SmartScreen may still show a one-time "Windows protected your PC" notice as it builds a reputation record; if it appears, it lists Red7en LLC as the verified publisher — click More info, then Run anyway. The "Starting Notova (Windows)" section of the User Manual has details.
⚠️ Mac users: this version of Notova has not yet been certified (notarized) by Apple. Because of that, the first time you open it macOS may show a security warning, and the exact wording depends on your macOS version. You may see something like "Notova can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software" or "… because it is from an unidentified developer." This does not mean anything is wrong with the app — the warning appears for any app distributed outside the Mac App Store that Apple has not reviewed. The "Starting Notova (Mac)" section of the User Manual explains how to open it anyway.
